Hundreds of enraged Nigerians rushed onto the pitch to cause mayhem after Ghana drew with Nigeria and qualified for the World Cup.
The 60,000-person capacity was packed with excited Nigerians hoping to see their team beat Ghana and qualify for the World Cup.
The away goal rule, however, aided Ghana’s qualification after the game ended in a stalemate after a Thomas Partey goal in the 11th minute and a penalty from Troost Ekong later on.
Some footage from the Abuja Stadium paints a bleak picture of invaders storming the pitch to vent their rage over Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.
The invaders can be seen scaling the barricade and running across the street as they attack some players and officials in the video.
Nigeria would not be attending the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, and Nigerians expressed their disappointment at the stadium.
This is not acceptable!!! #ghanavsnigeria
