We’ll Pass The E-Levy And Nothing Can Be Done – Stephen Amoah

The Member of Parliament for Nhyeaso in the Ashanti Region, Stephen Amoah, has indicated that the e-levy, which has been hotly opposed by the Minority in Parliament, will be passed and that the Minority will be helpless to stop it.

He believes that the Minority has recognized the benefits of the levy and is working hard to stop it since it will bring much-needed development to Ghana while also increasing the NPP’s popularity.

He argues that the NPP is in power and will not be influenced by Minority pressure to remove the charge, which has been widely opposed by voters.

“Whatever they want to do, we will pass it at the right time and they can’t do anything. We are in government and if they claim they will make us unpopular why won’t they stop because they know this is going to transform and change the lives of Ghanaians, they know this is going to reverse the consequences of the COVID, they know this is going to put our fiscal space in the right perspective and they are afraid that Ghanaians will continue to build their goodwill and confidence in this government. So please, we need the e-levy”.

On the argument that the e-levy should be reduced from 1.75% to 1% of transactions, Stephen Amoah stated that those making that argument have not backed up their claims with data and that those making that argument should provide the data needed to support calls for the proposed 1.75 percent reduction.
