President Akufo-Addo has cancelled Mr. Yaw Kwakwa’s appointment as Managing Director of the Ghana Airports Company Limited.
Minister of Transport Kwaku Ofori Asiamah stated in a letter to the Board Chairman of the Ghana Airport Company, “In this regard, kindly take the necessary processes to give effect to the instruction.” “I am excited to collaborate with you.”
Mr. Kwakwa was interacting with the media at the McDan terminal when the news broke, and the Transport Committee of Parliament was visiting the site.
Despite the fact that the letter did not specify the reason for his dismissal, it is commonly suspected that it has something to do with the current McDan aviation issue.
McDan Aviation has suspended its private jet operations at Kotoka International Airport’s Terminal 1 in order for the company’s management to negotiate with the Ghana Airport Company Limited over operational procedures issues.
In a letter dated January 31, 2022, the GACL barred McDan Aviation from performing its private jet services at Terminal 1 of Kotoka International Airport indefinitely. (KIA).
