Robber Shot On GIMPA Road; John Dumelo Questions Lydia Alhassan’s Silence

Over recent times, the GIMPA road and its environs have become a hotspot for criminal activities in the city.

Many victims have complained of the rampant robberies that have been taking place there.

Residents and students around the area are concerned about the police reluctance to forfend the area and clear the breeding thugs out.

Prominent amongst these drivers concerns was that of John Dumelo, the actor turned politician who contested for the Ayawaso Paraliamtery seat in the 2020 election but lost to NPP’s Lydia Alhassan.

In a Facebook post on his page, Dumelo actually expressed his weariness on the frequent carjacking and robberies in that area, and how Lydia Alhassan, the MP sits back unconcerned about the Ayawaso West Wuoguon Constituents.

Two days ago the Ghana Police via Twitter announced that an arrest they made on the GIMPA Fiesta Royale road citing how the culprit vandalized the car of someone.

According to the tweet, the man threw a stone at one of the window glasses of the Nissan Pathfinder of the victim at 2:00 pm on 11th June.

The man who noticed the police on patrol drew their attention to the thug who by then was hiding in the bushes. He was eventually caught and arrested and is currently in police custody.

The man behind the attack as seen in the video below is currently in police custody pending due processes to face the law over his act.

 

Over the weekend too, one of two criminals was shot after robbing a taxi driver around the Fiesta Royale – GIMPA road and disappeared into the bushes around the hotspot. 

Adomonline.com reports that on Saturday evening at about 9:30 pm, a male driver informed the Achimota School District Police during a patrol of being attacked by two armed men.

The taxi driver, who had been shot, later led the Police to the crime scene, and upon their arrival, the two robbers fled the scene into a nearby forest.

In pursuit to apprehend the notorious culprits, the police laid ambush at an unsuspected part of the forest and moments later, the two suspects emerged from the forest to resume their operations.

The Police officers sighted these robbers involved in another criminal act on the road and swiftly pursued them. After a long chase, one of the suspects, Kofi Mensah, 30, was gunned down as he tries to escape by climbing a fence.

According to the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Regional Police Command, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Effia Tenge, the Police, were, however, unable to capture the second robber as he managed to successfully climb the fence.
