A pastor has been jailed for 16 months after raining insults on his Abusuapanin ( Family Head).
In an exclusive interview with the Crime Check Foundation, he narrated how he landed in prison after being scammed by a landowner recommended to him by his Abusuapanin. Unbeknownst to him, the land agent defrauded him of 1000GHS for the piece of land.

He angrily reproached his Abusapanin for what he did. Prior to that outburst, he confessed he had taken a few drinks of alcohol. He verbally abused his family head and some minutes later, three men arrived to escort him to the Police station. According to him, on the way there, one of the three guys, Supa threatened to give him a false charge.
After several failed attempts of getting a judge to preside over the case, he finally got his hearing. He was arraigned before a court and was sentenced to 16 months on charges of misconduct and harmful behaviour. He however denied he caused any harm to anyone and was quite surprised at the hefty sentence he had to pay for something as trivial as that.
He also said, he was kept in police custody for close to three weeks which goes against the laws of the land. According to the 1992 constitution, ACT 1 4 section 3B, “upon reasonable suspicion of his having committed or being about to commit a criminal offence under the laws of Ghana, and who is not released, shall be brought before a court within forty-eight hours after the arrest, restriction or detention.
