Parliament Has Approved E-Levy Already – Osei-Kyei-Mensah

Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Majority Leader, has announced that the House of Parliament has unanimously accepted the contentious E-levy.

According to him, the House also adopted the Appropriation Bill, which allows for the implementation of the e-levy, which would impose a 1.75 percent surcharge on all electronic transfers, including Mobile Money.

On January 22, 2022, the Suame MP spoke at a capacity-building workshop for the Majority Caucus in Parliament and several Ministers of State.

“It is difficult for me when people are kicking against the e-levy when you know that we approved of it in the adoption of the motion to approve the budget.” As a result, the first step has already been completed.

“The e-levy has been accounted for in the various estimates that we have approved for all sectors.” The second thing we did was this. The third step was to incorporate everything into the Appropriation Bill and pass it unanimously.

“What does it mean that you approved the E-levy?”

“So when we do all three of these things and then turn around and say that you (Members of Parliament) are against the Bill, perhaps you didn’t know what you were doing,” he explained.
