‘NPP Won Power On Lies, And The Economy Has Exposed Them’ – Fifi Kwetey

Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, a former Deputy Finance Minister in the J.E.A Mills administration, has blamed the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) for the country’s deteriorating economic situation.

He claims that the Akufo-Addo administration failed to turn the economy around as promised in the run-up to the 2016 election because it lied its way into power.

Ghana’s fundamental economic struggles have persisted since the NPP took office under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration, and the indicators appear to be unfavorable.

Fuel prices have risen dramatically in recent weeks as a result of global factors and the depreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against other major trading currencies.

Prices for goods and services have generally increased, widening the country’s poverty gap.

However, in an interview with Citi TV’s Face Face program, Fifi Kwetey stated that the NPP’s constant attribution of economic mismanagement to the NDC during its campaign indicated that it was taking the citizenry for granted.

“I believe the foundations were laid on deception from the start.” And when you build something on deception, it will collapse in a matter of time. So, in essence, they were elected on the basis of lies. They came into office pretending that they would reduce taxes while increasing spending. So they were deceiving the people from the start.”

“Right from the start, they absolutely lied to the country, especially when they made it appear as if the entire problem was simply a matter of mismanagement when they knew it wasn’t.”

Former Agriculture Minister Fifi Kwetey praised the NDC’s “unprecedented” infrastructure development.

He explained that the NPP’s financial resources should be reflected in the output of its various flagship programs, but this has not been the case.

“If you add up all of their policies in terms of the resources they’ve used, it means they could have done a lot more.” If you look at the projects and infrastructure that we have put in place, they cannot point to any significant infrastructure that they have put in place in our country’s history. It not only shows how inept they are, but also that they have no right to be in power.”
