NFF Sacks Entire Super Eagles Technical Team

Augustine Eguavoen, Nigeria’s coach, has resigned with immediate effect after the country failed to qualify for the World Cup.

Nigeria failed to qualify for the Qatar World Cup following a 1-1 draw with West African rivals Ghana on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.

The NFF has withdrawn the two-and-a-half-year contract offered to the coaches and has immediately terminated the appointment of the entire technical team.

Last month, Emmanuel Amuneke, Joseph Yobo, and Salisu Yusuf joined Eguavoen’s backroom staff, while Aloysius Agu remained as goalkeeping coach.

“We thank the coaches and team officials for their service to the nation and wish them success in their future endeavours,” NFF general secretary Dr Mohammed Sanusi said.

A statement from the NFF said a new management team would be announced “after a proper review” and would be charged with “reinvigorating the Super Eagles to face future challenges appropriately”.
