First Human Case Of H10N3 Birdflu Reorted In China

A 41- year -old man from eastern China contracts the first human case of the H10N3 strain of flu. The Chinese government reported it on Tuesday, May 5th 2021.

The National Health Commission however reported that the possibility of a large-scale infection and spread is very low. The 41 -year- old from the Jiangsu Province in Shangai was hospitalized on April 28th and is currently stable they further assured.

No human case of H1oN3 has ever been recorded elsewhere the commission stated. “This infection is a cross-species transmission,” its statement said. “The risk of large-scale transmission is low”

The widespread COVID -19 has placed China under a scrutinized lens of the World in case another infection stems from there again.

A global surveillance system has been put in place for human cases of bird flu, unlike the Corona Virus. This was as a result of a string of bird flu cases recorded in Hong Kong’s live crowded poultry in the late 1990s.

China has experienced phases of bird flu infections in the past years so this first case isn’t too surprising hence the authorities have been closely monitoring people in case it starts spreading.
