Burna Boy, a Nigerian singer, has reacted subtly to Shatta Wale’s recent rant by sending an indirect message.
Shatta Wale vented his rage on Nigerian musicians in a Twitter rant following the success of his “Freedom Wave” concert at the Accra Sports Stadium.
He insisted that Nigerian artists were not as unique as they were perceived to be, and that local artists could succeed without necessarily collaborating with one another.
Shatta Wale also chastised Nigerians for looking down on Ghanaian musicians. He also railed against the popularization of Nigerian music in Ghana, which he claimed was harming local talent.
Burna Boy has reacted to this with utmost delicacy.
Burna Boy posted a message on social media that could be interpreted as a response to Shatta Wale’s tantrums directed at people like him.
According to the post, Shatta Wale should take a good look at himself and ask himself why any friendship he pursues ends in a bad way.
According to him, the SM president has a habit of fighting with his close paddies and referring to them as “enemies” after their relationship has soured.
“If you can’t name one person who came under you and didn’t end up your enemy?”
Burna Boy went on to say that in the coming year(s), he hopes people (such as Shatta Wale) will not only grow physically, but also intellectually and mentally. Growing older, he believes, is not as important as growing wiser.
“2022 I pray we not only grow older and fatter, I pray older and wiser.”
Shatta Wale and Burna Boy used to have a friendly working and personal relationship, which led to the two collaborating on the hit song “Hosanna” at a time when the former was more popular than the latter.
However, in the years under review, Burna Boy’s music career has seen a drastic change and shift. His popularity has skyrocketed, owing to the global appeal and reception of his music.
