“You’ll Be Jailed Five Years For Any False Prophecy” – Police Forewarns ‘Doom’ Prophets

The Ghana Police Service has issued a warning against false prophecy or declarations that endanger the lives and rights of the people for whom they are intended.

The Ghana Police Service has warned prophets and religious organizations to be cautious in their utterances ahead of prophecies that will be declared at the end of the year in a statement.

The police have stated that doomsday prophecies used to instill fear and panic in people will not be tolerated.

Individuals or religious organizations whose prophecies violate the established rules and procedures may be arrested, prosecuted, and imprisoned for up to five years, according to the service.

“We want to caution that under Ghanaian law, it is a crime for a person to publish or reproduce a statement which is likely to cause fear and alarm to the public or to disturb the public peace, where that person has no evidence to prove that the statement, rumour or report is true,” excerpts of police statement reads.
