“You Can’t Do The Job, Step Aside For NDC To Takeover” – Mahama To Akufo-Addo

Former President Mahama has asked President Akufo-Addo to allow his party, the NDC, to take over the country’s leadership because he appears to be struggling.

According to him, the president has a habit of blaming him for the country’s inability to lead, which is a sign of a poor leader.

Speaking at the 40th Anniversary commemoration of the 31st December Revolution in Accra on Friday, Mr Mahama said that his name has appeared prominently in the president’s speeches since he took over, and that he should step down if he believes he is unable to lead the country.

“Leadership is about responsibility. It is only a poor leader who shirks responsibilities and shift blames. We had a power crisis– dumsor in this country– because of a lack of investment in generation for many years, and so we were consuming more power than we generated. That was the situation I met, and yet I did not say it is not my fault. I went to Parliament, took responsibility for it and promised to fix it, which we did.”

“Today somebody [President Akufo-Addo] claims he inherited a weak economy, which he hasn’t been able to be responsible for, 5 years on. It’s always about Mahama and NDC. If he [Nana Akufo-Addo] can not do the job, he should give way for the NDC to do it for you.”

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has stated that his administration has done a commendable job in moving Ghana from a state of hopelessness to one of tremendous growth and development.

Although he has stated that he cannot be held responsible for the hardships endured by the citizenry, Akufo-Addo has lauded the NPP’s achievements and reiterated that they have performed better than the NDC.
