Wearing Of Face Masks No More Mandatory In Ghana – Nana Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has relaxed the requirement to wear face masks in public places, which will take effect on Monday, March 28, 2022.

“Facemasks are no longer required as of tomorrow, Monday, March 28th,” the President directed.

However, the president urged Ghanaians to continue to practice improved hygienic practices such as hand washing.

“However, I encourage all of you to continue to practice improved hand hygiene and avoid overcrowded gatherings.”

The president also announced the relaxation of various restrictions, such as the reopening of the country’s land and sea borders, as well as the elimination of the negative PCR test for fully vaccinated travelers using the Kotoka International Airport.

President Akufo-Addo attributed the relaxed restrictions to the country’s lower number of active cases.

He also mentioned the number of vaccinated people, as well as the advice of the national COVID-19 Taskforce and health experts, which led to the revision of the COVID-19 restrictions, which were enacted under E.I. 64.

“In fact, as of Friday, March 25th, 2022, the total number of active cases was 72.” (72). There are no people who are gravely or critically ill. Our COVID-19 treatment centers are empty, and the fourth wave appears to have ended. “In addition to the very low reported cases, there has been a significant improvement in vaccine availability and uptake by the population,” the President stated.

He claimed that 13 million Ghanaians had been fully immunized.

“While we have not met our national vaccination coverage target, it is important to note that reasonable vaccination coverages have been achieved in infection hotspots, particularly in Greater Accra and Greater Kumasi.” The government is determined to use all available resources to increase vaccination deployment across the country in order to meet our target of vaccinating twenty million (20 million) Ghanaians by June.”
