NPP’s MP for Adansi-Asokwa in the Ashanti Region, Hon K.T Hammond has described people from Volta Region as “not Ghanaians”
In a video which has fast gone viral on social media, he was speaking about the influx of security forces at the bordering Ketu South municipality in the Volta Region.
“The Togolese and the Voltarians – when I talk about Voltarians, the Volta Region – remember the history … basically the same tribe, so, they walk into [Ghana] but they are not Ghanaians … When they walk in there, they can do whatever they [want]”.
Citing an example to back his comment, he mentioned that it is the same Ketu South municipality that overturned Nana Addo’s comfortable lead in 2008 after the run off.

*Military hierarchy says the military is there to conduct an exercise dubbed operation anti terrorism. Yet on Joy News this morning, KT Hammond foolishly says the military are in Volta Region to maintain peace and order and to prevent foreigners from coming to register from

The NPP’s posture towards people of the Volta Region is disturbing. It’s the reason the new voters’ register is being pushed. Who has forgotten the 2015 assertion by the NPP that over 76,000 Togolese had registered as voters in the Volta Region? This is not only KT Hammond.

The offensive words of Mr. KT Hammond had better not be the widespread belief of the NPP government lest it reinforces a disturbing perception of "Our Country". No! No! No!– Franklin Cudjoe

KT Hammond is the most useless politician in Ghana right now

Ghana is bordered by 3 countries and several entry points.
Why is it that ONLY the Volta end comes under scrutiny & controversy when it comes to elections and where "foreigners" enter to vote?
Is there any research that has proven this only happens in the Volta alone? I'm lost

KT Hammond’s comment is disgusting. These constant attacks on the people of the volta region won’t end well. But remember when things do escalate, we should know who started it all.
