Policeman Swerves Bullet As Armed Robbers Attack Bullion Van On Kasoa Road

A bullion track has been attacked on the Gomoa Okyereko on the Kasoa-Winneba road. This goes to highlight the surge in daylight robberies around the country.

The Bullion track was attacked on the road with one of the armed robbers shooting right at the window side of the van.

The incident which happened Thursday afternoon, June 17th shattered a portion of the glass window where the police escort was seated, according to Adom Fm’s Kofi Adjei.

The brave policeman prompted the driver to speed off while he calls for backup from the police unit within their perimeter. According to reports, the officer swiftly adjusted his seat to lay on his back during the attack.

The Winneba Police unit dispatched to Mpataso junction rushed to the scene and were involved in an intense shoot-out battle with the robbers.

The robbers managed to escape the scene but investigations are still ongoing to apprehend them soon enough.

This incident follows the recent attack of another Bullion track at the Timber market near James town. This resulted in the death of a constable, Emmanuel Osei and the unfortunate death of a hawker, Afua Badu as well.

Fortunately, with this particular attack, both the police and the driver came out safe and sound. The money in the van was also intact as well.

Myjoyonline.com reports that a similar incident happened in the Ashanti region, Adansi Fomena and this time the police escort, unfortunately, lost his life when he was shot.

The suspects, allegedly numbering ten, shot Constable Lance Babah while he escorted a bullion van carrying money.
