“It’s People Who Haven’t Travelled Outside Before That Don’t Understand The E-Levy” – Diana Asamoah Fumes

Evangelist Diana Asamoah, leading member of the NPP and a gospel singer, has issued a highly divisive opinion on the highly debated E-levy, which forced NPP and NDC MPs to spar before parliament adjourned for the year.

In an interview with award-winning blogger and YouTuber Zionfelix, Evangelist Diana Asamoah stated that the E-Levy will shape Ghana’s economy.

According to Diana Asamoah, Ghanaians who oppose the E-levy have never visited a European country because they do not understand the entire concept.

She went on to say that taxes are important to a country’s prosperity, so we should all support the government’s decision to implement the E-Levy.

In her words she said;

“If you go to Italy, the toll is automated. You will not see anyone there collecting tolls but you are compelled to pay. You pay 10 Euro on your going and the same on your return. Everything is taxed”.

“In Ghana, it is because some people have not traveled before that is why they speak like that [against paying taxes]. If we were to explain the objective and the need to pay the E-Levy, it would bring massive developments. Ghana would have been so beautiful“.

This opinion from Evangelist Diana Asamoah has been met with disdain by the majority of Ghanaians, who have chastised her for being unconcerned about the hardships the citizens are already experiencing.
