I Recorded Peru When I Was Tipsy – Fireboy DML

Adedamola Adefolahan, professionally known as Fireboy DML, a Nigerian Afrobeat crooner, has revealed that he was tipsy when he recorded his popular track Peru.

During an interview with Deezer, Fireboy discussed the inspiration for his song and the songwriting process. Fireboy revealed that his song “Peru” was written and recorded in San Francisco, California.

When asked about the process of creating his song Peru, Fireboy explained that he was tipsy in the studio and decided to try something in the booth, which resulted in the song “Peru.”

“It was my first time in America, and I was supposed to go see my associates at the empire and just vibe; pay a courtesy visit to Shizzi, who produced the song in his studio.” I was tipsy when I arrived at the studio that night and just sat in the booth.

He made the beat. ‘Um, that’s a vibe,’ I thought. And I was literally just singing my story in 30 to 35 minutes. It’s just a young boy who has found himself in a new environment and is eager to try new things.”

Fireboy told the host that his new collaborator, American artist Ed Sheeran, was ecstatic about remixing the song “Peru.”

“Ed Sheeran heard the song and fell in love with it.” He was ecstatic about the whole thing; the whole vibe of making the song. He demanded the lyrics, as well as an explanation of what each word meant. He finished his winning verse in 30 minutes as well.”
