Chicago based criminal defence lawyer, Gal Pissetzky, who is representing Hushpuppi says that his client is not guilty.
Speaking to Forbes in an article about the arrested Nigerian socialite over reports of multimillion fraud scams, he said “absolutely not guilty of [the] charges they are accusing him of“.

He added that, “[Abbas] was running a legitimate business and a very legitimate Instagram account and did not take part in any scam or fraud”
Talking about what job his client is into, he said “he’s an entrepreneur. He has real estate involvement … [he’s] an Instagram personality. He was promoting brands and that’s how he was very legitimately making his money”.
Hushpuppi is currently being held at the MCC Chicago, Federal Bureau of Prisons, where he reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 whilst awaiting trial for charges that could land him in jail for 20 years if found guilty.
