Frozen Actress, Who Voiced Anna, Dies After Falling From Hotel Room

The Japanese actress who played Anna in the dubbed version of ‘Frozen’ in Japan has died after falling from her hotel room.

Sayaka Kanda, 35, was discovered at 9.40 p.m. on Saturday, December 18, on the 14th floor of the 22-story hotel where she was staying.

She was taken to the hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

Ms Kanda was the daughter of Japanese actor Masaki Kanda, 70, and singer Seiko Matsuda, 59. She voiced Princess Anna in the Japanese version of the hit 2013 animated Walt Disney film ‘Frozen.’

On Saturday afternoon, Ms Kanda failed to appear at a performance of the musical ‘My Fair Lady’ at a theatre in Sapporo, the capital of the mountainous northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.

According to local media, the actress was at a rehearsal on Friday.

Takako Matsu, who voiced Elsa in the Japanese version of ‘Frozen,’ said on Disney’s official Twitter account that her colleague’s death left her “speechless,” adding that “the time we spent together is an irreplaceable treasure for me.”

“We are very sorry to give such a report to all the fans who supported us and all the people who took care of us,” Ms Kanda’s agency said.

“We are still unable to accept her death and are attempting to cope.”

Police continue to investigate whether Ms Kanda committed suicide or died as a result of a tragic accident.
