DMX – legendary rapper confirmed dead at 50 after heart attack

American rapper DMX has been pronounced dead after battling for his life in the past few days.

The ‘No Sunshine’ rapper suffered a heart attack after a drug overdose on April 2, a situation that deprived his brain of oxygen for about 30 minutes, hence, going into a coma.

Unfortunately, despite all the medical support at the ICU, his brain failed to function so he never recovered but was left on life support and hope for a miracle.

Sadly, the miracle didn’t happen as many prayed for, with TMZ reporting that ‘by Thursday his organs began failing while he remained on life support’ hence his family agreed to put him to rest eternally.

His family announcing his death said “we are deeply saddened to announce today that our loved one, DMX, birth name of Earl Simmons, passed away at 50 years old at White Plains Hospital with his family by his side after being placed on life support for the past few days. Earl was a warrior who fought till the very end.”

The statement continues, “He loved his family with all of his heart and we cherish the times we spent with him. Earl’s music inspired countless fans across the world and his iconic legacy will live on forever. We appreciate all of the love and support during this incredibly difficult time. Please respect our privacy as we grieve the loss of our brother, father, uncle and the man the world knew as DMX. We will share information about his memorial service once details are finalized.”

DMX leaves behind 15 children.
