Callum Husdon-Odoi Acquires Ghanaian Passport

Chelsea forward Callum Hudson-Odoi has reportedly obtained a Ghanaian passport in preparation for his debut for the Black Stars.

Callum has obtained the necessary document that officially makes him a Ghanaian citizen as part of the process of changing his nationality from England to Ghana.

Saddick Adams, a renowned Ghanaian journalist, confirmed this:

Former Board Chairman of the National Sports Authority, Kwadwo Baah Agyeman has revealed that Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was assisted to complete processes to acquire his Ghanaian passport during his last visit to the country.

The 21-year-old hasn’t played for Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions in over two years and has turned down recent Under-21s call-ups from Lee Carsley.

Despite having represented England and earning all three caps in competitive matches, Hudson-Odoi is still free to switch countries.

This is in response to a FIFA rule change in September 2020, which allowed players with no more than three caps to switch if they earned those appearances before the age of 21.

Hudson-Odoi has dual nationality despite being born in London, thanks to his father, Bismark, who played football for Hearts of Oak in Ghana.

Hudson-Odoi has been seen in Ghana on vacation in recent years, most recently in January 2022 and last summer.

He’s considered switching, and when asked about it, he said, “At the end of the day, we will wait till that time comes.”

Hudson-Odoi was asked to see President Nana Akufo-Addo and is said to have spoken with the Ghanaian Football Association.
