COVID-19 is a respecter of nobody and Brazil’s President, Jair Bolsonaro, is learning this the hard way.
Sadly for the football-loving Nation battling the virus as the 2nd most hit country with 1,643,539 confirmed cases and 66,093 deaths as at today, now has a COVID-19 President.
The President publicly confirmed his status today on CNN. He said “Everyone knew that it would reach a considerable part of the population sooner or later. It was positive for me. I’m not going to see anyone for meetings. Everything will be done via video conference and I will rarely meet people if I need to deal with more reserved matter”
Before this, Mr Bolsonaro repeatedly played down risks of the pandemic he described as “little flu”, he has also opposed lockdowns decisions saying that it hurts the economy.
The President went to the US Embassy in the Brazilian capital on Saturday for the July 4th celebration and photos from the event show he was sitting close to US ambassador to Brazil Todd Chapman among others where social distancing were not observed neother were they wearing nose masks.
