Bill Cosby Freed From 10-year Prison Sentence; Court Overturns ‘Unfair’ Conviction

Bill Cosby is set to be freed from prison and it’s not because he is done serving his jail time.

In a breaking story, a Pennsylvania Supreme Court on Wednesday has overturned Bill Cosby’s sex assault conviction, setting the stage for the release of the 83-year-old comedian.

A report by TMZ states that there are two reasons that guided the court’s verdict for Bill Cosby to be freed.

The Pennsylvania high court ruled that it was unduly prejudicial to allow 5 women with stories similar to Andrea Constand to testify, trying to show Cosby had a particular way of drugging women and then sexually assaulting them, the website explained.

The second reason is set to be from a deal Cosby reached with a previous prosecutor, D.A. Bruce Castor, that if he testified in a civil deposition he would not face trial criminally.

The agreement convinced Cosby to make incriminating statements about drugging women which were presented at trial leading to his conviction but according to the Pennsylvania High Court, the deal was broken by prosecutors, hence, overturning his conviction.

Mr Cosby had served three years of a three- to 10-year prison sentence at a maximum-security facility outside Philadelphia.

The 7-member Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that the actor had been denied a fair trial in 2018. The new verdict also states that Bill Cosby cannot be retried, meaning he is free for good so far this sexual assault is concerned.

At the time of this publication, Bill Cosby hasn’t been out of custody but he is expected to come out anytime soon so far as all processes for his release are through.
