Beaches In Greater-Accra To Close Down, Drivers To Enforce ‘No Mask-No Boarding’ Policy

Due to the increasing cases of Covid-19, all beaches in the Greater-Accra region will be closed before and during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

The decision was made at an expanded Regional Security meeting on Friday, which was attended by representatives from the Drivers Union, beach operators, event organizers, and religious bodies.

The decision was announced at the meeting by Mr Henry Quartey, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, who said the Regional Security Council had been directed to ensure full compliance with the directive.

He stated that security agencies would work together to ensure that no activity took place on the beaches.

The Drivers’ Unions, including the GPRTU and PROTEA, also agreed at the meeting to prohibit passengers without nose masks from boarding commercial vehicles beginning Saturday, December 25.

The meeting also agreed that people must wear masks in public places.
