A court in Ghana has overturned Ghanaian actress Akuapem Poloo’s 90-day prison sentence.
Remember that she received the prison sentence after pleading guilty to a charge of publishing n*de photos of her minor son.
On December 1, 2021, a High Court presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey dismissed her appeal for a non-custodial sentence rather than a custodial sentence. The Circuit Court decision was upheld by Justice Ruby Aryeetey because it was not excessive or harsh.
Following the high court’s decision, her lawyers, led by Andrew Kudzo Vortia, filed a notice of appeal and a notice for bail.
The convict has now been fined GH12, 000 by the Court of Appeal in Accra.
Poloo is now expected to pay GHS12,000 in fines, which equates to 1000 penalty units.
