Adwoa Safo Finally Breaks Silence On Her Long Absence From Parliament

Sarah Adwoa Safo, MP for Dome-Kwabenya, has finally broken her silence after receiving criticism from Ghanaians and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for her prolonged absence from Parliament.

A number of allegations were leveled against her after she flew to the United States and abandoned her duties as a legislator, prompting vociferous politician Kennedy Agyapong to leak damaging information about her to the media.

Adwoa Safo, however, stated in an exclusive interview on JoyNews’ The Pulse on Thursday that she will resume her duties as an MP and Minister once her son is fit and healthy.

The Gender Minister stated that she is currently in the United States caring for her ailing son and must ensure that everything is in order before returning to the country.

She stated that she has served her constituents for the past 12 years and will not relinquish her legislative duties.

“I will undoubtedly return to serve my people.” I have been leading and serving the people of Dome-Kwabenya for the past 12 years, and I know exactly what my responsibilities are and will continue to do so.

“As you know, my son is ill and needs to start school, so I need to make sure that everything is in order before I can resume my duties,” she explained.

“I have been doing a lot to take care of my children as the law requires, and as you know here in the foreign land, I have to comply with whatever I am directed to do, and until all of that is sorted out, I have to do what I have to do, and then I will return to my duties,” she added.

The MP was scheduled to appear before the Privileges Committee on May 27 for her unauthorised 15-day absence from Parliament.

Adwoa Sarfo, on the other hand, stated that she had not been served with a summons to appear before Parliament’s Privileges Committee.

“As we speak, I’m not sure if I’ve been invited. I must be served. I’m not aware that anything like that has been given to me. “I’m just hearing it from you,” she said during the news channel interview.
