A-Plus Slapped With GHc 10M Defamation Suit By A Popular Businessman : Here’s Why

Ghanaian businessman Hassan Zein has sued Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, for defamation.

Mr Zein, the businessman, claims that the defendant’s use of his image, as well as alleged defamatory remarks published on Facebook on December 6, 2021, was calculated to harm and ruin his hard-earned reputation.

Hassan Zein is suing for ten million Ghana cedis in general damages (GHS 10,000,000.00).

He is also seeking an order directing A Plus to retract the alleged defamatory comment and image through the same medium that was used to defame him.

Mr Zein also seeks a permanent injunction against the defendant from defaming him in the future, as well as an order for exemplary and punitive damages.

Meanwhile, Mr Zein’s lawyers have also prayed the court for an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the defendant or his assigns from “publishing, sharing, commenting, re-publishing the malicious, vexatious and defamatory and or libellous comments about Plaintiff/Applicant, on any social or regular media for whatever purposes until the final determination of the instant suit”.
